Villa Don Gaetano Miggiano
The villa was planned and built
in 1859 by willing of Carmine Olivieri chemist and
notable in Triggiano on the purpose of offering his
large family a comfortable and glamorous staying at the seashore.
Originally painted in yellow, it is bond to stay forever this
way because on the charts it is referred to the yellow
house.
With the pureness of its classical shape, the villa
with its beautiful olive-grove and orchard faces the
wonderful Marina Serras bay situated in Tricase (Lecce);
you may feel under impression of hearing Homeric resonances
coming from its shining and full of mystery sea and that whispering
of that myth-crowded world that once was Magna Grecia.
Gaetano Miggiani,Olivieris family only heir,
on the half of last century, was bid to run, as well as the
villa on the seashore, a large country property needing a
steady management. He held control by the typical old fashioned
country-gentlemen style, that disappearing kind of men who
believed the land is the highest good, to be honored with
hard and never-ending work.
The nowadays landlady, Gaetano Miggianis grandnephew,
fixed the villa, so it can be inhabited all year round, and
named it fondly and respectfully after her Uncle.
